Website HalodiRobotics Halodi Robotics AS

Halodi Robotics is bringing robots out of factories and into the human world. We have cracked the code and engineered a safe, capable, and affordable solution (named EVE) that will be deployed in the immediate future to security, retail, and the food-packaging markets.

Inspired by innovation and serving the greater good, Halodi Robotics intends to produce thousands of humanoid robots by 2023—and that’s just the beginning. With the mission to bring humanoid robots to everyone, Halodi Robotics offers one of the most futuristic, world-changing career opportunities of our time. And with a team that enjoys being social outside of work, collaboration and support of Halodians extends well beyond the 9 to 5.

This is the place where people come to live and work to their full potential. Halodians are passionate about seeing the human-robot world come to fruition and embrace our holistic approach to building robots—all components of our robots are developed in-house including: motors, transmissions, sensors, electronics, controls, and AI. There are not many places where you can touch every aspect of such an advanced technology, but with Halodi Robotics’ modern approach, nothing is off-limits

What You’ll Get By Joining Our Team

You can shape the future of humanoid robots.
You will have the autonomy to improve all aspects of your technical skills.
You’ll join an agile and diverse, global team.

What You’ll Do

We are looking for a Robotics Software Engineer, Navigation to increase the ability of our two-wheeled robot EVE to traverse complex spaces in the real world complete with hazards, people, and unforeseen events. You will be responsible for the development, testing, and maintenance of our own navigation stack, tailored for complex robotic systems with an emphasis on wheeled humanoids. You will work cross-functionally with a range of other specialists in perception, localization, and controls in order to develop a solution that uses the full potential of EVEs’ actuation and internal/external sensing capabilities. An ideal candidate is someone who has industrial experience with autonomous, mobile robots that operate in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities:

Work with project directors to define new product features requiring autonomous navigation
Project scoping and prototyping with other engineers on the controls and perception team
Partner with other engineers to iterate through potential solutions, relying heavily on both simulation and hardware tests for quick feedback
Build and maintain production-grade software which forms the glue that binds the perception and controls stack
Deploy well tested, documented, and safe new features to our robots in the real world
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:

Masters or PhD. in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
3-5 years industry experience writing software deployed to real, mobile robots operating in dynamic environments

Strong skills in C++ and Python, with comfort operating on a Linux system
A well-rounded familiarity with the classic autonomy architecture: perception, controls/planning, actuation
Knowledge of path planning algorithms; global and local, and familiarity with common map representations used in robotics

Added Bonuses:

Experience with any of the following:

ROS, ROS2, DDS, or other middleware
Existing planning frameworks such as MoveIt, OMPL, ros-navigation/nav2
Motion planning of humanoids or mobile manipulators
Experience with creating and integrating simulated environments for testing collision-free motion planning algorithms
Real-time software for mobile robots

“With these collaborative robots–these more holistic robotics if you will–you’re trying to create a new world. You’re trying to create a human-robot world; one where interactions become the primary driver of the application.”- Nicholas, Project Director
