Summary:
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer at Seismic, you will design and build product at all phases: requirement development, system analytics and modeling, concept and prototype iteration, detailed design & DFM, and production support. You’ll apply hands-on experience to contribute to the development of complex electro-mechanical systems.

Responsibilities:
– Work on a cross-functional team of electrical engineers, apparel designers, industrial designers, biomechanists, and software engineers to develop new concepts and technical specifications and evaluate design trade-offs
– Design and test next-generation prototypes
– Develop prototypes into products through system analysis and DFM
– Contribute to reliability and validation testing
– Assist the manufacturing team with scaling the prototyping process into small scale production
– Troubleshoot and test products in conjunction with the human factors team
– Help manage contractors and offsite teams from sourcing to manufacturing

Requirements:
– Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics, graduate level preferred
– 5+ years of industry and product development experience
– Strong experience with system modeling and analysis
– Strong experience in mechanism design, electro-mechanical systems, and electric motors
– Fluency in at least one CAD program, Solidworks preferred
– NPI experience (DFM, factory builds, manufacturing engineering)
– Exceptional written and spoken communication skills (ex. documenting test procedures or product requirements)

Preferred/Bonus Skill sets:
– Experience with textiles, wearable soft goods, and/or apparel design
– Experience in biomechanics
– Industrial design experience
