As a Lead Human Factors Engineer at Seismic, you will engage with a diverse population of users to conduct user research and usability testing of Seismic Powered Clothing products, both physical and digital. This includes analyzing existing users and their product use to ensure the product is easy to use and easy to learn, and using insights from that analysis and user interaction to feed back into new product development.
The Human Factors Engineer will collaborate closely with peers in Interaction and Industrial Design, Apparel Design, Hardware and Software Engineering, and Data Science.
Lead product validation and field testing program, including writing protocols, defining acceptance criteria, and collecting user feedback to support product development and transition into market
Drive user research program including planning and execution of in person and remote experiences
Assist with qualitative and quantitative analysis of data collected during user testing
Contribute to user training manuals and instructional documents
Represent user needs and interests throughout the product design and development processes
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and soft goods engineers to design and test prototypes and new feature releases
Support investor demos and customer facing sales presentations
Present actionable research findings and compelling user experiences to stakeholders & leadership
BS or MS in Human Factors Engineering, Biomechanics/Biokinesiology, Human Centered Design, or related field
Experience interfacing with customers in a highly professional manner
Ability to empathize with users and understand the human condition
Excellent communication (verbal, written, and formal presentation) and collaboration skills
Ability to analyze and synthesize large quantities of information into usable communications
Ability to contribute to technical support for the product, including the ability to perform basic troubleshooting for software, hardware, and garment issues
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (approximately 25%)
Preferred/Bonus Skill sets:
Familiarity with biomechanics analysis equipment (IMU and EMG sensors, and force plates) and data collection techniques.
Background in workplace ergonomics and worker safety
Experience introducing new products to market and/or affecting field operations
Familiarity with product roadmapping and issue management processes and software
