The TRI CORE team is responsible for building the infrastructure, tools, and applications to enable and amplify ongoing innovation and discovery of multiple research teams across multifaceted domains.

We seek an experienced software engineer / architect to help us build, maintain and enhance existing infrastructure as well as to work with our research customers to co-invent new capabilities as their needs evolve.

You will be responsible for the architectural design, development, and deployment of multiple applications. You will help define system solutions based on user/client needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms.
You will be responsible for maintaining and supporting deployed solutions and their users while reporting to the Core Software Innovation team. This is a cross-functional role requiring the ability to work with many users across various departments and disciplines while building out the infrastructure to enable the organization to improve its operations.

Requirements:
Implement infrastructure that securely supports Graylog and maintaining internal configuration of Graylog platform as well as build/deploy and upgrades for Graylog
Design and implement software services that support AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible YAML, cloud native tools) leveraging experience with AWS platforms and nomenclature
Build integration between systems via forwarders, API’s, or other delivery/ ingestionmethodManage ElasticSearch (Lucene) and MongoDB for configuration/build support
Design, implement, and integrate security bringing best practices in AWS (AWS Lambda)
Monitor the health of the infrastructure, remediate issues that arise, as well as tune/tweak performance to maximize processing and reducing cost/bloat
Build integrations and pipelines for new log sources to come into Graylog and manage data throughput and storage to optimize platform cost
Develop Lambda Functions to support SaaS applications and their log retrieval requirements
Improve the adoption and usage of Graylog by onboarding and supporting/training end users while developing visual dashboards to provide metrics and monitoring capabilities to operational teams
Create alerts and dashboards for user groups that fit into their workflow and improve their ability to be responsive in real-time and provide training/support to TRI team members within various applications
Define and lead initiatives improving “graylog value”, reporting initiative status to leadership
Negotiate/manage license agreements and costs across applications while working directly with 3rd party vendors to escalate and remediate issues
Creation of streams/indexes for proper data management, storage, retention and build pipeline rules to transform/parse the log message into consistent data schema
Monitor health of internal application (Index Failures, Node Health, Data health)
Own Application security permissions and access management
Build and maintain standards for the applications for consistency (Ex. Dashboard Naming Conventions, Data schema standards, etc)

Qualifications:
3-4 + years of experience with AWS required
Experience in automating AWS infrastructure using Terraform & cloud native tools
Working knowledge of Graylog and familiarity w other open source tooling such as Ansible, Terraform
Strong programming skills in Python, Javascript
Working knowledge of Log Management tools (FluentD, Logstash, Splunk)
Experience with Infrastructure/deployments such as CI/CD (Jenkins and data processing pipelines, GitHub Enterprise
Familiarity with parsing unstructured log data into something structured and queryable (Grok) as well as search Patterns (Regex)
Experience with Security Standards and Policies (NIST)
Familiarity with data classification and management standards, network administration/protocols and Log formats/standards
Strong Communication and verbal skills and experience in partnering and influencing teams/developers around tools and processes
Experience with Data Visualization
