Optimus Ride engineers create the systems at the heart of our vehicles and products. Our vehicles need to process complex data flows and make decisions with real world consequences. We are looking for experienced technical leaders who bring deep expertise in modern connected-application development, and can offer the opportunity to help build the software that powers our next generation of self-driving vehicles.
Optimus Ride is focused on a rapid path to market in order to maximize the benefits of self-driving technologies for all. The Fleet Software Engineering Team plays a key role in this mission by building cloud based products and tools to orchestrate our autonomous ride service. These platforms are especially exciting, as they are the first point of contact between the self-driving vehicles and our passengers, clients, and other partners.
As a software engineering manager, you will have the opportunity to lead the Fleet Software Engineering Team to build both the user interfaces and the distributed systems that solve important problems for our riders and operations team. You will also interface regularly with other interdisciplinary engineering teams to seamlessly integrate the fleet software products with our self-driving vehicle technology.
Lead a team of talented engineers to build web and mobile applications for internal and external customers
Take responsibility for the overall planning, execution and success of complex technical projects
Provide the team with technical leadership and contribute technically to projects
Work closely with and enable other teams
Collaborate with product team, other engineering leaders, and key stakeholders to lead the team to execute on goals
BS or MS in an engineering or other technical field, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of experience building and deploying modern mobile and web applications with service-oriented backends
2+ years of hands-on technical leadership experience: defining the team’s vision, leading technical development, providing guidance and advice, promoting collaboration, as well as providing mentorship and career development for junior engineers
Experience building web and mobile applications using modern technology stacks (e.g., React, React Native, Angular)
Backend web development experience including HTTP, REST API design and implementation
Experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Deep experience with modern connected application development. Examples include: microservices, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps/SRE practices, message queuing, relational and nonrelational databases, software distribution, tracing, AWS/Azure/GCP
