Louise Poubel | Software Engineering Supervisor, Ignition Technical Lead at Open Robotics
Louise Poubel is a software engineering supervisor at Open Robotics. The foundation’s mission is to support the development, distribution, and adoption of open software and hardware for use in robotics research, education, and product development. She is building on her work with Gazebo, a robot simulator, and on GUI (graphical user interface) tools as the Technical Lead for Ignition. Ignition is a collection of open source software libraries designed to simplify development of high-performance applications, effectively upgrading and modernizing the 15 year old Gazebo framework.
Poubel has seen the impact of simulation in various robotics challenges, enabling teams from around the world without access to expensive robots to be able to participate, and succeed. She believes that machines are here to make life easier for everyone around the world, and she would know it! She grew up in Brazil, did her undergrad in Japan, and received her master’s in robotics in Europe! In her own words, “I dream with a world where technology is available and accessible to everyone.” You can find her on Twitter at @chapulitaBR
