Just in time for holiday shopping: Black in Robotics have just launched the BiR Store whose funds support our outreach activities https://blackinrobotics.org/store
And we have two new funding opportunities for students, these are listed under BiR Resources on the homepage (https://blackinrobotics.org/) along with the resume book (signup code: BiRSignUp2022) and reading list. As new resources become available they will be listed here as well.
New Student Funding Opportunities:
1. We are excited to launch the BiR + Google PhD award!
Website link: https://blackinrobotics.org/bir-google-phd-awards
Details and Eligibility (also see page above): For PhD students enrolled in a PhD program in the United States, we will be giving three awardees $25k each to use for tuition/stipend (to be decided by the student and their advisor). This will be provided directly to the student, and the student will be responsible for reporting tax for portions not used on tuition (as required by IRS topic 421 – link and info in site above)
Application Due Date: March 15, 2023
We are very grateful for Google’s support as we launch this fellowship!
2. BiR Student Conference Travel Reimbursement!
Website link: https://blackinrobotics.org/bir-student-conference-travel
Details and Eligibility (also see link above): Students must be actively enrolled in a higher education academic institution (undergrad, graduate) and have an accepted publication in a conference they have or will attend in 2022. Students must provide receipts, and awardees can receive reimbursements up to $2000.
Application Due Date: Feb 1, 2023
We recognize that for some, it would be even more beneficial to receive funding support before a conference (BiR pays on behalf of the student), and our team is working on mechanisms for the coming years to make that possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to email blackinrobotics@gmail.com
Thank you!
